Jim Carton Memorial Run Raises €500 for Talk To Tom

The fourth annual Jim Carton Memorial Run in Ballyfad saw runners take on the challenging 8km run up Ballyfad Hill earlier this year.

The event was organised by six friends of the late Irish army and UN Veteran Jim Carton.

Proceeds of this year's event went to Tallk To Tom Suicide Prevention in Gorey.  The mental health group were presented with €500 by event organisers.

Sincere thanks went to the sponsors, those who helped with registration, timekeeping, stewarding, refreshments, music, first aid, water stations,  and all who helped in any way.

Talk To Tom chairperson Trudi Gummerson-Sinnott thanked the event organisers and all who took part: "We can't thank all of those who took part and organised this year's Jim Carton Memorial Run.

"The money raised will help pay for at least ten therapy sessions for someone in need," she added.

"It's vital that we in the community continue to support one another in every way.

"It is wonderful to know that even after his passing that Jim is still giving to the community. Well done to everyone involved in this yearly event."
